Exciting News and Pictures!

Engineering

For our STEAM day Year 3 have been learning all about the life of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We have learnt all about his background and his designs. We then became designers ourselves and created our own bridges. We tested our if our bridges were strong enough to hold different weights. We evaluated our desgins and thought about what we could do next to make them stronger.

School Trip

We went on a school trip to the MShed|! We were collected by Laurence the bus driver who took us on a mini tour of Bristol to see Clifton Suspension Bridge. We then arrived at the MShed for a workshop all about the Saxons in Bristol. We explored different artifacts, clothing and we even became Saxon Kings for the day! After our exciting workshop and spot of lunch, we met back up with Laurence who took us to Bristol Temple Meads to read all about the designer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, which our engineering STEAM day will be based on! It was a great day out seeing the sights of Bristol and learning what Bristol would have been like a long time ago!

Making Hummus

We have been learning all about nutrients during our 'Animals, Including Humans' science topic. We have been reading different nutritional information on food packages. We had a go at making our own hummus and explored what nutritional values this food has!

Scribble Bots

School Trip

Year 3 enjoyed a trip to Bristol museum to explore a workshop all about The Stone Age! We had a great day handling artefacts and exploring all different kinds of tools which were used.

Steam Day

As part of our topic 'Why are rocks so special?' we learnt all about volcanoes. We enjoyed a STEAM day which included learning all about the volcanologist Dr Jazmin Scarlett. We designed, created and painted our own volcanoes in our Art and DT. We then used these volcanoes during our STEAM day to create exploding volcanoes!

Undercover Care Takers Agency

A mysterious box arrived in Year 3 at the beginning of Term 2. We spent a day being 'Undercover CareTakers,' completing missions from inside the box to collect 'buttons' and light up a beacon. Our activities included teambuilding, mindfulness, UcaTok dancing and creating top secret gifts to say thank you to important people in the school.
