Phonics

At St Nicholas of Tolentine Primary we follow the phonic scheme 'Unlocking Letters and Sounds.'

The children will learn new sounds each day to support their reading and writing. Here are a few ideas of how you can help our child at home with phonics:

In Diamond Class we are all going to be practicing our 'Curly Caterpillar Letters'.
We are going to make sure we start in the correct place and go anti-clockwise to form our curly letters. When we form these letters, we do not take our pens off the page until we have finished.
Please practice these letter formations at home with your child! You can use pens and paper, paint, glitter or even flour to write these letters!
