Term 2 - Why are rocks so special?

This term Ruby Class will be learning all about why rocks are special. We will be exploring this question throughout our topic learning.

In History we will be learning about the Stone Age.

In Geography we will be learning about extreme earth including volcanoes and earthquakes. 

In Science we will be comparing different rocks.

In Art we will be creating volcano art in the style of Jackson Pollock and we will also be making cave painting.

In DT we will be designing our own volcanoes to finish the term with an exploding science experiment! 

In Computing we will be creating our own animations. 

Term 3 - Why did the Vikings invade Britain? 

This term Ruby Class will be learning all about why did the Vikings invade Britain. We will be exploring this question throughout our topic learning.

In History we will be learning about the Vikings.

In Geography we will be learning about which countries the Vikings came from and travelled to.

In Science we will be exploring forces and magnets.

In Art we will be creating Viking collage art and we will get our inspiration from the artist Howardena Pindell.

In DT we will be designing our own Viking long ships using junk modelling and thinking creatively how to attach various parts. 

In Computing we will be creating media, focusing on desktop publishing.

Term 4 - Where in the world do we come from?

This term Ruby Class will be learning all about where in the world do we come from? We will be exploring this question throughout our topic learning.

In Geography we will be learning about the cities in the UK. We will also be learning about the rivers, hills and mountains in the UK.

In Science we will be exploring animals, including humans.

In Art we will be creating our own graffiti tags and exploring the work of Banksy.  

In DT we will be making our own hummus and cooking welsh cakes with the whole school.

In Computing we will be creating branching databases. 

Term 5 - Who were the Ancient Egyptians? 

This term Ruby Class will be learning all about the Ancient Egyptians. We will be exploring the topic question throughout our topic learning.

In History we will be learning all about the Egyptians. We will be looking at Egyptian Gods, the way they lived, who they were and what it was like to live there. We will also be exploring writing in the Egyptian times. 

In Geography we will be learning about Egypt as our country of the month as well as the River Nile.

In Science we will be learning all about light and shadows.

In Art we will be designing and creating our own ancient Egyptian pots. We will be painting and decorating them once they have dried.

In DT we will be making some shadow puppets.

In Computing we will be looking into programming and sequencing music.
