PE

PE at St Nicholas

At St Nicholas school, we believe that physical education for all children is required to nurture well-balanced individuals. As physical activity greatly contributes to improved health, increased levels of concentration, a reduction of stress levels and promotes correct physical growth and development, it is a key area of the curriculum.

To ensure all children at St Nicholas school receive the benefits that this subject offers, the curriculum offers a wide variety of PE areas from Early Years Foundation stage to Year 6. Teachers deliver high quality lessons which are differentiated to meet the needs of each child. The children receive two lessons a week and take part in dance, gymnastics, tag rugby, football, netball, handball and orienteering. KS2 children have swimming lessons at our local sports centre.

Children are encouraged to participate in local sports competitions to develop a competitive spirit and co-operation.

Our aim is that as children progress through the school that will learn about the benefits of physical activity and develop life-long, positive habits.
