Family Forest School
Family Forest School Sessions
Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It creates experiences in the natural world through practical activities.
As a Primary School we offer Family Forest School Sessions to pre-school aged children, aged 5 and under. This allows them to not only explore the natural environment but also allows them to develop socially, physically and intellectually.
What happens during a Forest School Session?
Children will have the opportunity to explore the natural environment at their own pace, leading their learning and play. Careful observation is made of the children’s developmental needs and their interests and the planning will support them in developing these areas of learning. For example, a child may love bugs; we can go on a bug hunt, make clay bugs and learn some bug songs!
What will my child need at Forest School?
Forest school sessions take place outdoors throughout the year, apart from days when there are high winds or thunder and lightning.
In summer your child will need:
· A hat
· Sunscreen
· A long-sleeved top
· Their water bottle
In winter:
· A hat, gloves and scarf
