At St Nicholas of Tolentine, we teach French to children in key stage 2 using the scheme Language Angels 

We believe that learning a foreign language provides not only a valuable educational experience for children but opens the door to new social and cultural experiences, both at school and in the years after children have left the classroom.  To learn another language is to open a door into another world that was previously inaccessible
During their time at our school, children will develop skills that will lay the foundation for their future language learning.  Alongside learning basic vocabulary, we aim to expose children to the culture of French speaking cultures around the world through song, food and other experiences.  It is also a great opportunity for children in upper KS2 to being to explore etymology and how languages are connected.
