Our school delivers a broad and balanced curriculum in accordance with the National Curriculum. We use The Edison Curriculum which includes discreet teaching of Core Learning Skills and Connected Curriculum Units.
The Connected Curriculum is a structured framework of half termly themed Learning Units for each year group. It covers Foundation subjects and Science and is fully mapped to cover the National Curriculum requirements. The Edison approach is designed to allow teachers to use their creativity and follow the interests of the learners whilst providing them with the support and framework that is needed for a consistently delivered and planned whole-school curriculum. Robust coverage of the National Curriculum is, of course, vital, but what we really want is for our learners to go home every day excited and buzzing about what they have learned and experienced.
The Core Learning Skills Curriculum is designed to ensure that every pupil develops the essential skills for learning and life. It intentionally and systematically develops pupils’ personal learning and life skills alongside subject learning. Core Learning Skills promote pupils’ ability to learn independently, which results in increased motivation, raised standards and accelerated progress.
