World Book Day!
Today, we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite literary characters. We all greatly enjoyed the range of costumes!
We then had a visit by UWE lecturer Dr. Ann Alston, who gave us two seminars - the first discussing Roald Dahl's life as a schoolboy and as an author and the second looking at picture books, and what we can learn from them. She was very informative and we had lots to discuss!
Trip to Bristol Aerospace
Year 5 and 6 went on a trip to Bristol Aerospace. Here, we explored the museum, saw planes from the past 100 years and explored inside the famous Concorde aeroplane. We took part in a 'Blast Off Rockets' workshop where we learned about the history of aerospace and made our own rockets.
Today in Geography, we found information using an atlas.
A Visit from Jack Rutter
We had a visit from Jack Rutter, the captain of the GB Cerebral Palsy Football Team. He told us his inspirational story and talked about his experiences as a professional footballer and playing at the Paralympic Games. He then did a workshop with us where we practised warm up activities, just like the ones he does! Finally, we played games of football and handball.
Diwali - Lotus Flowers and Elephants
As part of our Faith Week focus on Hinduism, we have been looking at how Diwali is celebrated. We discussed the goddess Lakshmi, and how she is often depicted with elephants and lotus flowers. We then decorated our own!
Aardman Animations Workshop
Today, we had someone from Aardman Animations visit us and teach us how to make our own Shaun the Sheep!
We had an amazing trip to the zoo. We saw many different animals and attended a workshop (where we held a hissing cockroach, a snake and a stick insect)! See below for some photos from our day:
